The spokesman of Atiku Presidential Campaign Organisation, Segun Sowunmi, on Thursday, said the fall of the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, from political grace is imminent.


In Sowunmi's statement ,"Tinubu’s remarks that the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Atiku Abubakar, could meet with his supporters anywhere in the world, including a jungle to strategise but that Nigerians would not vote for him in 2019, was self delusional. Former vice-President Atiku Abubakar  Who is to blame for Nigeria’s dysfunction? He said: “It is only a man of questionable pedigree whose certificate are dogged with a lot of confusion; whose parental  background is pretty much unknown; whose state of origin is opaque and unclear, that can understand how life is in the jungle. “If Asiwaju Bola Tinubu means that his life is in a jungle, we want to say to him that pride goes before a fall.

Those who disdain men that are going to contend with them for the goodwill and votes of the Nigerian people with careless talk is what we find even with Buhari. “I pity him (Tinubu) because his arrogance will fall-off his eyes like a scale when the votes are counted in 2019. Let him just understand that nobody is going to allow them run a chaotic, opaque and corruption-marred election. Let me also tell them that INEC will not help them. We shall all meet on the day of the election. Bola can deceive himself but Nigerians are not easily deceived.” He further said his principal would, if given the mandate in 2019 and beyond, do four things for Nigerians viz:  job creation, expansion of the economy, uniting the country through restructuring, and overhaul of the country’s security architecture.

2019 election: Oshiomhole working against Buhari, APC – Ogun State Governor.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State has said that the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, has in his conducts, exhibited disdain for the interest of President Muhammadu Buhari and the ruling party.

The Governor was last night reacting to Oshiomhole’s claims of innocence in the going crisis rocking the party in various states.

Amosun spoke through the State’s commissioner for information, Dayo Oduneye in reaction to Oshiomhole’s claim that he would not sell his conscience.

Oshiomhole had on Wednesday mentioned Amosun as one of the governors who were against his leadership.

In response to this, Amosun said, “We state without any fear of equivocation that no one, at least not on the side of Senator Amosun, has requested or expected Oshiomhole to sell his conscience.

“The least we expect of him is to abide by the rules and guidelines of the APC. Oshiomhole knows, as we know, that in the instance of the last primaries in Ogun State, he has fallen short of the minimum standards of justice, equity and fairness.

“The resort to hiding under the false claims about ‘conscience and integrity’ is cheap.

“Oshiomhole knows that there were no other gubernatorial primaries in Ogun State other than the one that produced Hon. Adekunle Akinlade as candidate.

“He knows that the primaries into national and legislative offices were won hundred per cent by those declared winner by the panel he sent to Ogun State to oversee the exercise.

“He knows that the shenanigan of unknown court injunctions, unknown appeal panels and all sorts unleashed on the process by him and his cohorts are premeditated schemes executed to deny the members of the APC their true choice of candidates in the elections.

“Our consolation lies in the fact that in the fullness of time, what remains unknown to the public will become bare and everyone will see Oshiomole and his co-travellers for who they are.

“In his conduct, Oshiomhole has exhibited disdain for the interest of the APC and that of the National Leader of the party, President Muhammadu Buhari.

“Senator Amosun remains committed to his convictions about President Buhari and nothing in the shenanigan of the primaries will change that.

“Finally, Oshiomole’s claim that only three state governors are aggrieved about the conduct of the primaries flies in the face of the nation-wide outcry that remains loud, trailing the exercise several weeks after.

“We remind him that in any case, justice is not dependent on the number of whom it has been denied.

“Injustice to one is injustice to all. The overwhelming majority of members of the APC in Ogun State remain unshaken in their rejection of the gangsterism that has been visited on them in the conduct of the primaries.

“They remain resolved that the attempt to hand over their state and their patrimony to a rapacious gang of expansionists in the South West will be resisted, not only by members of the APC but by the entire people of Ogun State who are too enlightened to tolerate such abomination.”

Gov. Abdulaziz Yari of Zamfara State on Thursday announced a reward of N1 million on every illegal AK 47 rifle returned to the state government.

The Governor, who announced this at a news conference in Gusau, said the gesture had become necessary following the unabated increase in crime, especially abduction in the state.

He lamented the level of insecurity in the state, saying “in 2015, with just about 250 soldiers, the crime rate was low but with over 1,600 soldiers of different categories, we cannot contain crime in the state”.

Yari said with the proposed engagement of 8,500 youths as civilian task force, those involved would be better equipped in the fight against armed banditry, cattle rustling and kidnapping in the state.

The Governor explained that many of the youths that would be engaged would come from the rural areas where the crime rate was higher.

“I am confident that since the locals know the people in their surroundings, they will be quick in detecting any new comer or suspicious movement,” he said.

Atiku will crash fuel price to N87/Litre ---PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party has said its presidential candidate has worked out a pricing template that will immediately crash the pump price of fuel in the country.

The party said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress administration had failed to do the needful in the last three years.

This was contained in a statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Mr Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja, on Thursday.


The PDP said it was against the alleged increase of the official prices of diesel and kerosene, stating that such would bring more economic pressure on the already impoverished nation, as most businesses and homes across the country heavily depended on the products for sustenance.

Ologbondiyan revealed that the PDP had been in high level talks with top international players in the oil and gas industry, adding that the party’s engagements “have shown that the appropriate pump price of fuel in the Nigerian market, under the current subsidy regimes of the Buhari Presidency, should be within the borders of N87 to N90 per litre as against the N145 currently being charged.”

He said with the current price template of crude oil in the international market, the Buhari administration “has no justification to keep the pump price of fuel at N145 per litre and watch Nigerians groan under the weight of high prices, while a cabal at the presidency loots the funds meant to subsidize the product.”

He added, “For every N145 paid for a litre of fuel, the Presidency cabal diverts a hidden N58 which Nigerians have continued to pay since the fuel price was increased from N87 to presumably subsidised cost of N145.

Attempts to get a reaction from the National Publicity Secretary of the APC, Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, were unsuccessful. Calls to his mobile phone indicated that he was unavailable.

However, a chieftain of the party, Alhaji Abdullahi Jalo, said the PDP should stop playing with the intelligence of Nigerians.


He said, “The PDP is desperate to return to power but Nigerians are wiser and cannot be deceived by the promises of a party that failed them. Is it a party that failed to make our refineries work that we will believe? The subsidy scandal is still there. Nigerians know President Muhammadu Buhari is sincere in his approach to solving our problems, they will vote him again in 2019.”

Peter Obi Responding to journalists’ questions at Southern Sun, Lagos yesterday, Obi regretted that rather than some political elites focusing on resolving the plight of several millions of Nigerians without livelihood, over 10 million of out-of-school children and many more of unemployed youths, they are busy engaged in emitting hate speeches and spreading concocted   falsehoods in their desperation to be elected into public offices so that they will continue with impoverishing the nation and the generality of the people.




Obi said: “As a matter of fact, the mosque at Onitsha was destroyed before I became governor."

 Describing the allegation that he snubbed the Sultan of Sokoto who was in the State as ridiculous, Obi asserted that irresponsibility and disrespect for elders and leaders were not in his character. According to him, “The irony of this concoction is that I have been a friend of His Eminence, the Sultan right from my first year at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in 1980 through his tenure as Nigeria’s Defence Attaché in Pakistan till the present.


 “The fact is that the visit of his Eminence, during which I was alleged to have snubbed him was purely a courtesy call after which I personally accompanied him to see the Obi of Onitsha, Obi Alfred Achebe with whom he had a meeting. I also requested His Eminence to visit the Hausa community in the state during which I offered to rebuild and subsequently gave them the funds for that purpose.”

Kano Assembly invites Ganduje over bribery scandal

 

The Kano State House of Assembly on Wednesday invited Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, to appear before its ad-hoc committee probing videos showing him allegedly taking bribe.

Ganduje is expected to appear before the committee on Friday.



The Assembly constituted a committee on October 15 to establish the authenticity of the videos.

On Wednesday, another video surfaced showing Ganduje dressed in black Kaftan collecting alleged bribe from a contractor.

The footage exposed the names of the contractors, projects and the voice of the purported bribe giver.

It also has translation in English with dates and timelines.

Unlike the previous videos released by DAILY NIGERIAN, the latest was suspected to have been released by other parties who could have had access to them after copies were released on request to security agencies and Kano Assembly.

A national leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has said he and other party chieftains are not moved by the decision of the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, to hold strategic meetings in Dubai ahead of the 2019 elections.

Tinubu spoke with State House correspondents shortly after meeting behind closed doors with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He said his meeting with the President was about the nation, Nigerians, peace, stability and economic progress.



He expressed the conviction that Nigerians would not want to return to the deplorable state into which the PDP plunged the country.

“We don’t fear, whether he (Atiku) is meeting in the jungle, in Dubai or in Abu Dhabi.


“People are free to meet and strategise in any way they felt, but we are not going back to the illusion of the PDP. It is not possible, Nigerians will not do that.

“They say slow and steady wins the race. We inherited that from our forefathers and knowledgeable people.

“We can’t go back to the pit that we inherited for 16 years. They can strategise from anywhere, but a leopard cannot change its skin,” he added.

Tinubu also faulted the calls by some party chiefs including state governors for the removal of the party’s National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

When asked if he was in support of the call for Oshiomhole’s removal, the former Lagos State Governor said, “No! We all have to respect party supremacy.

“You were all here when we had the congress. We elected the new executives. We had the convention and the NEC was formed.


“We surrendered to avoid conflict, domination, abuse of power.



“We surrendered our rights, all rights, to the National Working Committee headed by Adams Oshiomohole, that the NWC should set up electoral bodies to supervise various state congresses and elections. We signed off for it.

“So, if it is not in our individual favour, so be it. We gave three options: consensus. Where there is no consensus because you are more than two or three and you cannot agree on one candidate, you go to the next level.

“The next level is the stakeholders’ delegate and you have to be supervised by the National Working Committee of the party, national election committee of the party. That shows party supremacy.

“The freest option, the less cumbersome is direct primary; line up and count the number – one, two and three.  If you win, you win and if you fail, go home.



“Then an appeal committee was set up to listen to all appeals, internal mechanism for conflict resolution. It was there, you cannot turn against that. You cannot turn against all of that. No!

“Party is supreme. Party must be respected. Abuses will not do it and anger will not do it. It is party politics, somebody will win and somebody will lose, too bad.”
