Kaduna 24-hour curfew continues
The 24-hour curfew imposed on Kaduna metropolis and environs continued after it was slightly relaxed on Tuesday.
The government on Tuesday gave residents of the metropolis except for those living in areas like Narayi, Sabon Tasha, Kabala West, Kabala Doki and Mararaban Rido permission to move about between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.
The curfew in Kasuwan Magani and Kujama was reviewed to between 5:00 pm in the evening to 6:00 am in the morning.
Residents used the period to buy food items and other victuals but rushed back to their homes when the four hour grace elapsed.
The state government said the 24-hour curfew in Kaduna metropolis came back into effect by 5pm on Tuesday.
“The 24-hour curfew will remain in force until further notice,” it stated.
Government urged continued compliance with the curfew saying efforts to restore complete calm continues.
“The Kaduna State Government wishes to thank Kaduna residents for the peaceful manner in which they used the four-hour relaxation of the curfew today to restock.”
“It is a difficult time. Government regrets the inconvenience, but the 24-hour curfew is a necessary measure to save lives and property,” the statement read.
